Of all the ancient cities of Turkey, Ephesus is
the best preserved and most visited in all ages and is as popular as it was in
ancient times. This is due to the miraculous discovery of the House the Virgin
Mary. The city had splendid buildings and was dedicated to the
Godness Artemis, whose temple was considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.
The main monuments that we will see during the visit of this fascinating city
are: the street of Arcadiane, the majestic theatre, marble road, library of Celsus,
market place street of the Curetes, baths of Scholastica state agora, prytaneion,
odeon. The town of Seljuk, is dominated bye a Byzantine citadel
close to the basilica of St. John, built in the 5th century, on the site of tomb

MILETOS DIDYMA TOUR | |
PRIENE: Despite of its small size, Priene was a
very important city in antiquity because on its territory stood the Panionium,
the central meeting-place and sanctuary of the Ionian Confederacy. The theatre,
the temple of Athena, the agora, the Bouleterion and the temenos of Zeus Olympios
will be the steps of this visit. MILETUS: Miletus was the principal
port and the richest imperium at the Aegean coast. Thales of Miletus believed
that there was a fundamental unity beneath the apparent disorder and complexity
of nature and he postulated that water was the material base for all things. The
theatre of Miletus is by far the most impressive of the town's surviving monuments.
There is also the council-chamber, marketplace, temples, baths and an islamic
monument: Ilyas Bey Mosque. DIDYMA: Didyma was never a city in
its own right, but a Miletian sanctuary of Apollo inhabited only by priests and
the suppliants who come to consult the famous oracle there. The Temple of Apollo
is a well preserved one. |

| | | SIRINCE
VILLAGE TOUR |
Situated 8 kms east of Selçuk,
world famous site with the ruins of Ephesus and surrounded by olive groves, peach
and tangerine orchards and vineyards, this lovely hillside village's name can
be translated as "the Charming".
While wandering around
on the narrow streets squeezed by rows of old houses exhibiting interesting local
architectural heritage, you will be missing the past old times. Sirince is an
inspiring village. Myths created for Sirince has reached the present day by gaining
more values during the times; old personalities of Sirince became the heroes of
novels and stories written about Sirince. One of them is the famous biographical
novel of Greek writer Dido Sotiriyu: "Farewell Anatolia". Her childhood
was full of memories from Sirince. "If paradise really exists, Kirkindja,
our village, was a little corner of it" she says.
The old
Kırkındja of Dido Sotiriyu and today's Sirince are very much different, but they
both challenge the passing time; one by memories, the other by preserving the
values. The old beauties can be traced with tangerine clad trees, fresh oxygen
storage air, narrow streets with cobble stone pavements, warm and hospitable folk
and the well preserved old Greek houses.
